Dear OU admin.

Write your own letter to OU administrators without looking at what others have posted. What would you need to hear if your were a campus leader being asked for support, participation, and money for this event? Write your own letter here. Remember to include some discussion of how you will learn as a reader, writer, researcher, and student.

Dear Administrators,

My name is Jasmine Butler I am a freshman here at Oakland University. I am writing this letter to discuss a life long impact on a group of people. As a class we wanted to bring a group of 5th graders to explore the campus. This specific group of kids doesnt have a college bound history. They have no positive insight and they also do not have any motivation at home. This will be a great opportunity not only for the 5th graders but for my writing class also. This will impact me as a student to know that I hve made a small difference in a child's life that will turn into a huge success of others.

Dear Administrators,

My name is Tiffani Holt. I am writing this letter so you can allow the 5th graders from Alcot to spend a day on campus. I feel that it is in there best intrest to start them out early. Let them a feel for the college life. This is a great oportunity for us as the University and the students of Alcot. They would feel honored that college students want to hang out with them. They can give us knowlegde, as well as we can give them knowledge.

Dear Administrators,

I am writing this letter on behalf of Professor Drapeau's Rhetoric 102 class. My name is Marissa McIntosh and i am currently a freshman at Oakland. As a class we wanted to have an inpact on younger students and influence them to take the next step after high school and attend college. We feel that not only will this have an inpact on the 5th graders but benefit us as well. Being freshman another tour of the campus can only help us. We hope that you will consider this and get back to us as soon as possible. Thank you for your time.

Dear OU Administration,

Our rhetoric 102 class is inviting 5th grade Allcot elementary students to Oakland for the day. They will recieve tours and learn about college life. They will interact with college students and we will explain to them why they should also should go to college.
It teaches our rhetoric class how to interact with different age groups and we will learn the real reason why we are in college. We will also learn how to write letters to administration, alcott students, and how to plan a day of activities. This will be very benifical to us and the students. Thank you for your time

Dear OU Admin
This year we have to privilege to have the 5th graders of Alcott elementary join us for a day to tour the campus. On this day I ask that you would join us for some of the activities that we have planned and that you would say and eat lunch with us and the kids.
Also we are planning on busing them over here and we wondering if there would be any funds for this kind of an event.
This is the future of Oakland and we believe that this will make a difference in there lives. Most of the students parents did not go to college so this will be a strong support and maybe it will put help them realize that college is a must and that college can be fun.

Thank You

Dear Oakland University Administrators,

The students of Professors Drapeau's RHT 102 class would like to have a special day here at Oakland University called “A day with the Grizz.” On this day we would like to invite 5th graders from Alcott Elementary to visit our school. We will give them a brief spill about college and what it’s about. We would like to give campus tours and have lunch with the students in the Vanderburgh cafeteria. We would love for you to come speak to the 5th graders during this time. The “day wit the Grizz” will have a hug impact on both the students of Alcott Elementary. Most of these students will be first generation college students. This experience will show them that even if you come from a family with no or little college experience you can still make it into college and succeed. It will give them something to look forward to in the future. This will help us the students of Oakland University and the school as a whole by: teaching us how to write proposals and business letters, planning events and it will also be good publicity for the school. We are asking you for permission to have this event on November 8th from 9am to 1pm. We hope that you will consider this and get back to us as soon as possible. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Professors Drapeau's RHT 102 class

Dear Administrators,

I'm writing this letter because my teacher thought of an intresting idea that my class mates and I could do. This idea is to bring fifth graders to our campus to explore what college life is like. Something like a day at Oakland University could really have an impact on there lifes. Also it would make a big impact on mine just to be able to help these children.

Dear OU Administrators,
My name is Abby Bartoni and I am a freshman here at Oakland University in the Rhetoric 102 class. In our class we have an assignment to invite the 5th graders from Alcott Elementary to come and visit our college. We have decided to have the 5th graders come to and visit our college and call it "The Day With The Grizzlies" becuase the 5th graders that are coming to visit this year is the year that the parents of the 5th graders did not go to college. Also, our class wants to show the students the different classes and majors that we have at our college. For this day we are asking for your support to come help us gather the items that we need and to make an appearance on Novemeber 8th, 2007 to speak to the 5th graders about our college. This project benefits our class because we get to teach 5th graders and other audiences about our college. We may also find new majors and discover things about our college that we did not know. Also, this will benefit our class because we will practice writing letters to the 5th graders which is a different audience than what we would normally be writing to. There will be many things to learn from this experience that will benefit us for the class. Thank you for your cooperation and we hope to see you on November 8th, 2007.
Thank you,
Abby Bartoni

Dear OU Admin,

I am currently a freshman at Oakland University. I'm wirting you a letter to discuss of group of kids. These kids are are 5th graders that have no idea that their is a big world out there that they can explore. These kids have no positive insight about what college is all about. This would be a great opportunity for them to experience. This is going to help as a student knowing that I helped a other student realize that there is opportunities out their.

Dear OU Administrators,

We ,Rhetoric 102 students, would like to invite Allcot Elem. to tour the campus and give them a sence of what college life is like and why they need to attend college. Many of these students, do not have the adult influence about why they need to attend and how it will have a great impact of their future.
Many events have been planned for them such as____. This will be very benificial to the students becuase they will ineract with current students and become aware of the reasons why they need to attend college.
This will be benficial to ourselves by interacting with different ages, exploring the reasons why we are attending college, and also learn how to compose and finalize letters with different voices.
I hope by reading this email you will allow the Allcot students to attend the campus and even meet with the children and tell them a little about Oakland University.

Thank you for your time.
Rhetoric 102 students
(and all of our names)

Dear OU Administrator:

As a student of RHT 102 we are participating in a group activity to bring the fifth graders of Alcot Elementary to our campus. For us as students we need your help in bringing these future college students into the college life. To do so we need support from you administrators of Oakland University to make it all happen. As students we will need idea’s and support from you to inspire these young students into understanding the idea of college life. As a freshman in college I do not have the power as some other students on campus may have, that is why we need your help as an administrator to bring these students to Oakland University. Doing this project will benefit not only myself as an RHT 102 student, but will benefit these young students by creating new set goals for their future. This project can only benefit us as students, and members of the community in a positive way.

Dear OU Admin,

I am a freshman at Oakland University. My english class is helping out a group of 5th graders from Alcott Elementary and giving them a field trip around campus. This field trip will impact the 5th graders to understand college. This will help prepare their future after high school to continue their education and be successful in life. Our class is helping the 5th graders because they are first generation to attend college. It will benefit them and our class to make us feel feel good that they are encouraged to stay in school.

Dear Administrator
We, the students of rhetoric 102 are working on an activity to connect with the community surrounding our school. We have made plans to bring a group of 5th graders to our school to go exploring for a day.
Here is a list of our planned activities for the day:
• Campus tour
o Class rooms
o Lecture halls
o Cafeteria
o Rec Center
The reason for doing this is simple. The fifth grade class of Alcott Elementary School will be a first generation college class. This means the majority of their parents have not gone to or graduated college. For us in the class, this alone is enough inspiration to plan an event like this. We are not only doing this to benefit the students but, our class will benefit and learning so much. We have been planning the field trip since the first day of class. I have had to use my writing skills to formulate professional letters and emails to administrators. When the students arrive on November 8th we will also be utilizing our people and leadership skills also.

Dear Oakland University Administrators,

My name is Stephanie Ruzzin and I'm currently a freshmen at OU. As many people have affected my life and decisions on college, right now I'm given the same opportunity to further a group of young kids educations. In my Rhetoric class, we wanted to bring a group of 5th graders to spend a day at the university, so they can get a glimpse of college life and maybe inspire them to work their way here. Not only will it give the children many opportunities to learn, it will in return teach me about planning, being a role model and leadership roles. We would like this event to take place November 8th, 2007. In conclusion, if you can take a moment and review all of the benefits to our plan I think you will also be in favor for this motion. Thank you for your time and have an outstanding day.

Very Respectfully,

Stephanie Ruzzin
