Monica is a student, she attends at Oakland University.
Brittany would like to go home, because she wants to go to sleep.
Passing the Oakland Center, I noticed a lot of large buildings.
After I crashed my parents’ car, I was not allowed to drive again.
If I take a nap I will be able to stay awake when I go to class, unless my baby brother wakes up.

1.) Lacie, USE WHO HEREwhom is the oldest of the two, always picks on her her younger sister Liz. YOU ARE USING A RELATIVE CLAUSE IN THIS ONE, WHICH IS A FORM OF SUBORDINATION.
2.) Terika, has a computer, always seems to run out of paper. NO SUBORDINATION HERE.
3.) Dash, my over sized puppy,
loves to go for car rides. RELATIVE CLAUSE
4.)My father, who enjoys the outdoors, went moose hunting in Alberta, Canada last month. RELATIVE CLAUSE
5.) Clinton, who enjoys dirt biking, broke his foot while racing. RELATIVE CLAUSE.

Angie, what about using one of the subordinating conjunctions like--until, because, when, etc.--to create some of your sentences.

Although they were common a hundred years ago, Pandas are now increasingly rare. NICE COMPLEX SENTENCE WITH THE SUBORDINATING CLAUSE FIRST.

While Emily ran through the woods, she slipped on wet leaves under her shoes.GOOD

In order that the job gets done, people need to work hard. GOOD

While Kaitlyn waits in line, I am going to pick out more food. OKAY

Before you go to exercise, you definately need to stretch. GOOD

Abby, what happens when the subordinate clause is the second clause in the sentence?

After I slipped on some ice, I fell and broke my tail bone. NICE JOB WITH THE SUBORDINATING CLAUSE AND COMMA THEN THE INDEPENDENT CLAUSE.

Although my car was fixed, it is still not working right. GOOD

My family made lots of food for thanksgiving, which we had lots of leftovers. WHILE THIS IS A COMPLEX SENTNECE, THE MODIFYING PHRASE (A RELATIVE CLAUSE) IS PLACED NEXT TO THANKSGIVING, WHICH IMPLIES THANKSGIVING IS LEFTOVER INSTEAD OF THE FOOD.

My roommate who woke up at 11:45, decided to blare the t.v. as I am
typing for this class. GOOD...LOL

I went out shopping till 4 pm, and then my mom called me and told me

I was going to be late for dinner.
NOT A COMPLEX SENTENCE...NO SUBORDINATING CONJUNCTION.

Good job, Ryan.

Monica is a studentSEMICOLON WOULD BE THE NECESSARY PUNCTUATION, she attends at Oakland University. THIS IS A COMPOUND SENTENCE.

Brittany would like to go home NO COMMA, because she wants to go to sleep. GOOD JOB ON A COMPLEX SENTENCE

Passing the Oakland Center, I noticed a lot of large buildings.
THIS IS A SIMPLE SENTENCE STRUCTURE THAT HAS AN INTRODUCTORY PHRASE.

After I crashed my parents’ car, I was not allowed to drive again. RIGHT ON WITH THE COMPLEX SENTENCE.

If I take a napCOMMA I will be able to stay awake when I go to class, unless my baby brother wakes up. GOOD...SUBORDINATING CLAUSE/INDEPENDENT CLAUSE/SUBORDINATING CLAUSE

Although writing may be hard, learning sentence structure makes it easy.
